Daily Weather Update Automation
An n8n workflow that pulls real-time weather data, designs a branded post, and publishes it to a Facebook Page every day.
How the automation works
The n8n workflow behind this project. Select any node to read what it does.
Daily weather posting
Runs every morning without anyone touching it: fetch the weather, design the post, wait for the image, publish.
Step by step
Start on schedule
A schedule trigger starts the workflow every day at 7:00 AM Manila time.
Fetch the forecast
Calls the OpenWeather API for Manila's current temperature and conditions, in metric units.
Tidy the data
A small code step reshapes the response into just what the post needs: city, date, temperature, condition, and an emoji.
Design the graphic
Sends those values into a branded Placid template, which renders the post image.
Wait until the image is ready
Rendering takes about 30 seconds, so the workflow waits, checks the image status, and loops back until it is finished.
Bring everything together
Merges the finished image with the weather data so the caption and picture travel together.
Publish
Uploads the image and caption to the Facebook Page through the Graph API.
Every node retries up to three times before a failure is escalated to the error workflow.
Overview
The workflow pulls real-time data from the OpenWeather API, generates the post from a custom Placid template, and publishes it to a Facebook Page on schedule.
A global error handler logs any issue to a Google Sheet and sends an email notification.
Business problem
The audience relies on timely, accurate weather information, but creating and posting updates by hand every day is time-consuming and prone to errors.
Solution approach
An end-to-end automated workflow that runs daily without manual intervention, so the team can focus on more strategic work.
