SENTINEL

An active-resistance smart backpack with slash detection, fingerprint access, and live GPS tracking.

Overview

A Computer Engineering capstone hardware prototype. A conductive mesh matrix detects slash breaches and tampering, and biometric fingerprint authentication controls access.

Onboard GPS with Wi-Fi telemetry sends live location and instant breach alerts to a companion mobile app.

Dionivel Adem Alegado served as Hardware & Embedded Lead.

Business problem

Traditional backpacks lack active physical protection, leaving valuables vulnerable to unnoticed slash theft, unauthorized physical entry, and loss without real-time location visibility.

Solution approach

Built an active-resistance smart backpack featuring a conductive mesh matrix to detect slash breaches and tampering, biometric fingerprint authentication for authorized access, and onboard GPS with Wi-Fi telemetry to transmit live tracking and instant breach alerts to a companion mobile app.
